  General Enquiry
What is my.invisible?

my.invisible is a privacy utility software which totally conceals files and folders in your computer from view. This software provides you with a simple way of preventing others from reading your sensitive files. Apart from hiding your files, my.invisible also performs an encryption before hiding it, heightening your security.

What are the benefits of my.invisible?

my.invisible not only hides your files, it also performs an encryption before hiding it. SmarThumb my.invisible is very useful, for example, you can hide information such as accounting reports, salary files, price lists, personal pictures, email messages, etc. Furthermore, it is also very easy to operate.

How do I use it?

There are three modes of operation. The first method is to simply right click the file. The second method is launch my.invisible control panel, click on the Hide File/Folder button and select the files/folders to hide. The third method is to drag and drop the files/folders into the my.invisible window (this last method does not work with Microsoft Vista).

What happens if someone else uses my computer and tries to uninstall the my.invisible program?

You can only uninstall the my.invisible program if you have the Passphrase. This Uninstallation Passphrase is set when you first install the program.

What happens if I forget the Uninstallation Passphrase?

In this case, you will not be able to uninstall the program. Please remember to keep the Uninstallation Passphrase in a safe place (eg, in SmarThumb my.wallet) to ensure that only you can uninstall the my.invisible software.

When I uninstall the my.invisible program, what will happen to the files that are currently hidden?

The program will request you to unhide all the files that are currently hidden before allowing you to continue uninstalling.

What happens if I forget the program Passphrase?

There is no way to retrieve your Passphrase, so please remember your Passphrase and keep it in a safe location (eg: SmarThumb my.wallet).

How do I retrieve a file that is currently hidden?

Launch the my.invisible program and select the file you want to retrieve. Then simply click on the unhide button.

What is a hot key?

A hot key is a combination of several keys, that when pressed together will trigger a specific event.

How do I use a hot key?

If you do not wish to display the my.invisible icon on your desktop, you may choose to hide it. To make the icon visible, you can type the hot key combination you have set and the icon will appear. This hot key combination can be set inside the my.invisible program.

If I bring my hard disk to another computer, can I still view my hidden files?

Yes you may. The file will appear, however, you will not be able to view the contents as the file would still be encrypted. This encryption ensures a second level of protection for your private files.

If I hide some files in a folder, for example, if I hide 2 out of 10 files, and subsequently I choose to delete the viewable folder, what will happen to the 2 hidden files?

The 2 hidden files will be deleted as well. SmarThumb my.invisible's function is to only hide a file – it is still physically located at the same place (in a folder or on the desktop). When you use my.invisible to hide a file that is within a folder, the file is still physically inside the folder. Therefore, when you delete the folder, the hidden file will also be AUTOMATICALLY DELETED. It is best to put all the files that you wish to hide inside one folder, and hide just that particular folder.
